We had a great opening night for the "Sixth Sense" exhibition at the Suter Art Gallery last night. There were so many people there it was hard to move! Today there's an article in the Nelson Mail on the exhibition.
Today I dropped off two unframed pieces for the Nelson Suter Art Society's exhibition "Out of the Frame" which opens on 3rd August, and runs until 24th August. The two pieces are "Over View I" and "Edges", check them out in my new Works on Paper tab. The exhibition is all work that is on paper and unframed.
I sold "Water Study VI" via Kahurangi Gallery today, so exciting to sell via the internet.
Also sold "Tranquility" to a friend - well we actually swapped paintings. I gave her lovely painting to Dave for his birthday present today.
I finished the last painting for the NZ Art Show yesterday. Have called it "Round the Bend", also sending "Left Turn" and "Fences". So need to finish packing them up and get off by courier today.
Check them out in my recent works on paper (Paintings 4 tab).
I found out today that my submission to the The New Zealand Art Show was successful! This is a three day visual feast for art lovers and those interested in purchasing original New Zealand Art for under $5,000.
The show exhibits and sells work by hundreds of new, emerging and established artists from around New Zealand. Each year there is an enormous variety of art styles, genres and media.
So am quite chuffed to get selected.
The first Mapua Art group Original Art Sale was held over the Queen's Birthday weekend at Mapua. It was great to see 74 works from the group hanging in the hall. The opening night was a real buzz with sales, lovely local wine, delicious nibbles and an inspirational talk by Lisa Chandler.
I sold two paintings to a buyer from Christchurch. They are "Making Waves II" and "Ripples" which can be seen under the Paintings 2 tab. I also got 3rd equal in the People's Choice for "Left Turn" which can be found under the Paintings 4 tab. So all in all a good weekend, made up for the miserable weather!
